The card I’ve drawn today is the Death Card. This card is one of the major arcana and shows important energy flying around today.

The Death card is probably the most feared card in the deck. However, it usually symbolizes change coming your way. Some Tarot decks have called this card ‘transition’ or ‘transformation’ to soften the name of the card.

When this card appears in readings it means you’re in for some changes. There are areas of your life that can no longer remain the same and whether you want it or not the Universe is pushing things along to a conclusion. Although change can be really scary, you must remember that the end of one thing as we know it means an opportunity for something new to come along. If we embrace life more as an adventure and embrace new opportunities the Death card is a little less scary.

As the whole theme of this card is transition, you’ll find today that you may receive some unexpected news regarding finances. It probably won’t be the positive news you’ve been waiting for but it will release you from the uncertainty of all of those ‘what if’s and ‘might be’s. News that gives you a definite yes or no breaks you from these chains and allows you to get on with your life.

With relationships just like finances, news may come your way which you don’t welcome. Changes may occur and you feel out of your comfort zone. If you’re single then today doesn’t hold much chance of finding and keeping a partner – although you may find a quick fling on offer.

Whatever changes come your way you don’t have to like them, they may make you feel uncomfortable but ultimately you’ll find that everything really will work out right in the end.

Computer magick at your fingertips

Articles, Spells No Comments »

Nearly everyone has access to a computer these days so why not put it to good use and create a little magick with it?

Here are a few ways to turn your PC into a magick machine!

Computer magickWhen you send an important file such as your CV or resume add an extra symbol to your document. Type in something that represents success or prosperity – the dollar or pound sign is an obvious choice but it’s not really very secret! Try using an acronym such as GTJ standing for ‘Get This Job’ or MCTM for ‘Money Come to Me’. First make the words of your secret sign really big to give it energy and then reduce the font size to small. You can even change the colour of the sign to the background of your document so it will be very discreet (if not invisible).

What can you do if you get a nasty email? Don’t reply with words just send it back to the originator 9 times. If think nine is too much then do it 3 times. This reversal spell will return the negative energy to the sender threefold. Another way of reversing the effects of a bad email is to send back a blank email. Hit reply and erase all the text then send it on.

Use your desktop as a way to attract the things you want in your life. Create some folders such as Love, Money, Luck and Success then create files to put in these categories (it doesn’t matter what software you use as it’s the naming that’s important). Name the files after things you want such as new-job.doc, free-from-debt.xls, win-lottery.txt. Each time you look at you desktop open up your folders and remind yourself of all the things you want to attract to you.

Don’t use a regular mouse – supercharge your mouse into a magickal tool. When you turn off your computer, put your mouse in a little box or bag which contains a coin, some heart confetti and a sprig of rosemary. Each time you click on your mouse you’re bringing luck into your life.

Another good way to manifest magic is to use your screen saver or desktop wallpaper. Choose imagery that supports your intent… for instance, images of waterfalls and running water symbolize money, images of flowers represent love and images of clouds and sun represent the acquisition of experience and wisdom.
Never underestimate the power of a password either. When you choose login names or passwords, try and choose names that attract positive energy. For instance the password name “fatdope” might just attract more fat dopes into your life. Remember the principle of “like attracts like”!

Card of the Day - 2 of Wands

Enjoy my Tarot ‘horoscope’ card of the day. Today it’s the 2 of Wands

2 of WandsThe card I’ve drawn today is the 2 of Wands. The keywords of this card are boldness, originality and personal power.

This is a great card to let you know that you’re heading in the right direction. Today would be an ideal day to make plans in all areas of your life and take the initial steps into making your dream a reality. Don’t think mundane either – make sure your goals are big, bold and daring (well, at least a little). Why would you want to have an extra £50 in the bank when you could manifest £5000? Why settle for a new ‘second hand’ car when you could plan a sparkling, brand new BMW? It’s these plans (think cosmic ordering) which shape your future – if you can think it and believe you can achieve them then you will get it!

In work, it’s a great day to work with others on shaping the future of your company or develop new products. There’s a connection with team members and you all feel you’re on the right track. Think outside the box and be daring in your suggestions – it’s these creative sparks which lead to greatness.

Take time today to spend time dreaming and planning with your significant other. Think of things that you’d both like to do together – get some holiday brochures, book a night away in a hotel or plan to renew your vows. You’ll find this sharing of the future will only serve to strengthen your connection to each other.

With finances, things are improving but everything is still in the pipeline. You’re yet to see any actual material gain but it will come – you just have to be a little more patient.

Card of the Day - The High Priestess

Enjoy my Tarot ‘horoscope’ card of the day. Today it’s the High Priestess…

High PriestessThe card I’ve drawn today is The High Priestess and it’s one of the 22 major arcana which shows important energies flowing around today. The keywords of this card are potential, mysteries and intuition.

There is a very strong feminine energy associated with today so today is ripe for exploring your intuitive side and developing your psychic potential.

When the High Priestess appears in a reading it’s usually a sign that you’re not being given the full information. There’s an area of your life where you don’t have full knowledge – it could be a person, a relationship, a job or just something that’s bothering you. You can find the answers but it requires some soul searching and listening to your intuition. You may not like what’s revealed but it will give you peace of mind.

At work things may be slow and you may feel a little restless at the amount of inactivity. Don’t worry though as there may be an unexpected bonus or situation that catches you by surprise (in a good way).

In relationships play it cool today and watch out for your partner as he or she may not be forthcoming with the truth. Enjoy the sensual energy of the High Priestess but keep your thoughts and feelings close to your chest. It’s not a day to blurt out how you feel – save that for a more appropriate day.

With psychic awareness being highlighted with this card consider taking a course to unlock the potential within you or keep a dream diary to keep note of the secrets your dreams are trying to reveal.

9 Steps to Becoming A Witch

Articles, Spells No Comments »

LynI’ve found this great article by Kim Brown on the steps (she considers) necessary to become a witch.  It gives you a good idea of what living the magickal path is like.

Enjoy!

Lyn

9 Steps to Becoming a Witch

Witch\'s BroomSTEP ONE - discovering your path

Read and study. Read everything you can get your hands on. You need to read anything that will tell you more about the beliefs of witchcraft, magazines, books and web pages. While studying there are other forms of the craft that help. (nature) For example you could go hiking or go camping. Sunbathe, moonbathe, watch animals etc.

STEP TWO - defining your path

In a notebook, folder or journal start writing down some reasons why the craft is for you. What does being a witch mean to you? What do you hope to achieve? How do you visualize the God and Goddess? What does the Divine mean to you? Be honest. This notebook will become your book of shadows.

STEP THREE - Exploring magic

Magic is simply raising and channeling energy that is found in yourself, nature and the divine. Before you begin working with magic you need to understand what it is. You also need to know the basic structure of a ritual, casting circles, calling quarters, invoking the God/dess, raising and directing energy, grounding and centering and closing the circle. Know the moon phases. Learn to feel how the moon effects your body. Keep records of all you have learned in your book of shadows.

STEP FOUR - learning to focus

Now you should start working on meditation and visualization exercises to increase your concentration. Learn to be calm. You can start out by meditating at least 3 times a week for about five minutes. You should do this for at least a month. Remember to keep a record in your book of shadows.

STEP FIVE - working with magic

Now you can begin some basic spell work. Start with a full moon ritual or a new moon ritual.

STEP SIX - self dedication

After you have been studying for at least five or six months on meditating and working with magic it is time to perform a self dedication ritual. Design it however you want. A self dedication ritual means you are dedicating yourself to the craft.

STEP SEVEN - the year between dedication and initiation

You can initiate yourself when you feel you are ready. The year you spend between your self dedication and your initiation you should spend celebrating the Sabbats, meditation, practicing your spellwork and studying. Use this time to learn about different forms of divination, such as Tarot or Runes, and different forms of healing, such as herbalism. Make sure you are recording in your book of shadows.

STEP EIGHT - Networking

You should spend a solitary year study after self dedication before a witch considers joining a coven or a circle. This gives you a full year to celebrate the cycle of Sabbats.

STEP NINE - Initiation

An initiation should be something that’s meaningful to you. The ritual should be written only by you. A coven initiation is a means of bonding a group together. Initiation into the craft should always be a solitary ritual.

You still have to learn and practice. If you truly want to be a witch be prepared to spend the rest of your life studying and learning about this religion.
